British trained accountant Olasunkanmi Akinlabi and Alhaji Jeleel Adesiyan ‘Jalo’ have things in common. They are both indigenes of Ode-Omu, the two are politicians and former ministers. The gist here is that the two belong to different camps in the state PDP, while Jeleel is an Omisore’s loyalist, Akinlabi belongs to the Adagunodo’s camp.

An interesting scene was recently staged at the ward level in the ancient town. The drama began when the former Police Affairs Minister last year lost what ought to be a reserved right to emerge as a delegate. There was a serious opposition against conferring such a privilege on him by Kamaldeen Olatoye, the chap ensured he contested the slot with him and eventually got it via a straw voting to Adesiyan’s consternation. In annoyance, he gave an order for the withdrawal of plastic chairs he donated to the party from the PDP Secretariat in Ode-Omu and Akinlabi in a show of solidarity with the party members had the plastic chairs promptly replaced with new ones.
