Residents of Ofatedo, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State have for days now been living in fear.
Some people who claimed to be armed robbers had a few days ago addressed a letter to the community informing them of their plans to ‘visit’ them.
The uninvited intended visitors, however, promised to suspend plans to visit them only if residents of Ofatedo can voluntarily raise the sum of N20m which should be dropped at the gates of the town’s monarch.
Photocopies of the letter were dropped at strategic locations in the town to properly disseminate the information.
To show that it was not an ‘empty rhetoric’, the robbers struck penultimate Tuesday at Boluwaduro Road J and attacked three houses.
A businesswoman had her husband attacked with a machete and made to sustain injuries in the head.
His son, who had sought to rescue him was also attacked with machete.
They were later taken to Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo for medical attention.
While the son was discharged last week Thursday, his father was not yet in a stable condition.
