Two social entrepreneurs will be guests on this week’s edition of African Voices Changemakers, Globacom-sponsored magazine programme of the Cable News Network (CNN).
Togolese-American, Olowo-n’djo Tchala is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Alaffia Beauty Company, which produces beauty products from shea butter, coconut oil and other natural ingredients. The company which has an estimated turnover of $50 million got an Award, alongside its owner for Corporate Excellence from the US State Secretary, under the “Women’s economic empowerment” category in 2018. In the same year, it also became a member of the consultative committee on African trade same year.
His counterpart, Axel-Emmanuel Gbaou, a chocolatier from Côte d’Ivoire, holds a Master’s degree in Public Law and Political Science and another in Taxation. He learnt chocolate-making from an Abidjan-based Ivorian chocolatier.
Having gained vast knowledge on the possibility of turning cocoa into a variety of delicacies, Gbaou quit his banking job to become a professional chocolate maker. From his mother’s kitchen, he became Champion of Côte d’Ivoire, Vice-Champion of Africa and Super Laureate of the Alassane Ouattara Prize for Young Entrepreneurs.
