A top member of the musical band of the late Gospel music singer, known on the stage as ‘Aduke Gold’, has shared troubling details of challenges the star singer went through before she eventually passed on.
According to the middle-aged man who said he was the manager of the band, the deceased passed through difficulties that were too much for her age, including physical and sexual abuse.
Aduke died at age 37 on Monday, August 11, 2024, while undergoing surgical operation for cervical cancer, according to a reliable family source.
Aduke Gold’s band manager narrated the pains and hidden struggles she reportedly faced in her last days, describing her as a woman who suffered not only from her physical injuries but also from deep emotional pain. He claimed that the singer would not share with anyone her secret pains.
‘She was capable of keeping secrets and hiding her emotions, and masking her hurt with fake smiles, the manager who refused to disclose his name said, stressing that the singer might still be alive if she didn’t hide her pains from her friends and colleagues.
An independent source told this magazine that a certain lover of Aduke who is a drummer with a popular male Gospel singer, Lanre Teriba, physically abused her throughout the period they dated. The manager recalled how Aduke Gold once shared her troubles and fears with him, based on physical abuses she encountered with men, including some priests who approached her in the guise of helpers.
“I observed the change in her once when she shared her relationship troubles with me. But she stopped sharing her secrets afterwards based on reasons known only to her,” the manager said.
Another source said there was another young man who had a relationship with Aduke and took advantage of her humility and perceived timidity to abuse her. The man, the source revealed, was a restaurateur in Ogba area of Lagos State.
“Men took advantage of her tenderness and tolerant disposition to abuse her. But she didn’t share her experiences with anyone even though some of us knew what she was going through,” stated the source who added that each time Aduke returned home from a show, her lover would assault her severely.
