Popular social commentator, who is also one of the foot soldiers of former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Mr Baba Idris has joined the 2023 Kwara state guber race.
He is now the youngest guber aspirant in the state.
The Coalition of Youths and Young Professionals in Kwara state penultimate Friday declared support for him and asked leaders and stakeholders in the state PDP to use this as an opportunity to show commitment to the ‘Not Too Young To Run’ law.
The group added that allowing Mr Baba Idris to get the party’s 2023 gubernatorial nomination will show readiness to allow young people in the state engage in governance and participate in political and decision-making process.
They have therefore urged Kwara state PDP leaders and stakeholders to allow Mr Baba Idris run on the party’s ticket in the 2023 Gubernatorial election.
The group noted that at a precarious time like this ‘when someone with youthful clairvoyance, energy, qualifications, exposure, ideas and orientations is needed to change the tide of governance in the interest of Kwara and Nigeria at large’, Baba Idris according to the young professionals fills the equation, judging by his age, maturity, intellectual capacity, charisma and political experience.
Abdulrahman Mohammed, who read a prepared text on behalf of the group at the press conference held at the NUJ Press Centre, Ilorin, added that there was no better time than now for the young people to take over power from older Nigerians and meaningfully chart a course forward for Kwara and Nigeria at large.
