How Osun APC, PDP Reacted To Appeal Court Ruling On Guber Poll

Osun State APC expressed happiness that the majority judgment of the Court of Appeal, confirmed the election victory of  Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and asserted that he was  duly elected last week Thursday .  In a statement made available to Global Excellence shortly after the APC secured the judicial victory, the party’s Director of Publicity, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi , he said the  decision made by the jurists  has actually set the record straight.  ‘There have been expectations and anxieties on both sides until this morning when the judgment was given in favour of the APC. As far as we are concerned, it is not open to debate that we are the majority party in the state and the facts on the ground bears eloquent testimony to this.  Few months after the erstwhile disputed governorship election, the National Assembly poll took place. APC won two out of the three Senate seats; six of the nine Reps seats; and 23  out of the 26 House of Assembly seats. How then could we have lost the governorship election? We may not be able to explain what was behind Adeleke’s performance that he came so close in the September election.  Although we won, Adeleke’s score sheet was inexplicably abnormal. In contrast to the election four months after, the so-called victory by the opposition must have been a farce. We believe it is time to move on and concentrate efforts on the transformation efforts that were started in 2010 and which the people have mandated Gov. Gboyega Oyetola to continue and improve upon.  That is the job the new governor and the APC are determined to accomplish by the special Grace of Allah’ the party said.  In a separate statement, the state PDP  described the decision of the judges as shocking. The state Chairman, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo , however, disclosed intention to proceed to the apex court and challenge the Appeal Court ruling. ‘We received the Appeal Court Judgment  with a huge shock. Considering the quantum of evidence before the lower court and the legal points advanced by our legal team, we had expected victory but that is the beauty of democracy, you win one, you lose one and it is not over until it is over. We have hope in the judiciary,  some hiccups are not unexpected  in the judicial process, it is understandable and expected that all judges are not the same and they don’t think the same way and we believe that at the end of the day, the Supreme Court will do justice to our case and victory will be ours. We enjoin our people to be peaceful, calm , resolute and have high hopes that  in the next two months, by the grace of God, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke  will be declared the duly elected governor of Osun State’, he stated.
