Nollywood actress, Funmi Lawal, who accused the general overseer of the Celestial Church of Christ (Genesis Model Parish), Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, of duping her of the sum of N2m, has reportedly recanted the allegation.
Funmi also reportedly accused ‘Pastor Genesis’, as Ogundipe is popularly known of rape and other crimes, all of which the pastor has denied.
According to information, Funmi, who had made confessional statements to the officers at Alagbon police station, regarding the allegation, was billed to appear at Igbosere magistrate court, Lagos on Wednesday, 9th of September but the case could not hold due to some unforeseen circumstances.
During her interrogation by the police, the yoruba actress allegedly confessed that Pastor Genesis did not collect any money from her neither did she ever have any contact with him. She said she only tried to blackmail the pastor while she claimed a certain Bukky Jesse who is based in the UK sponsored her against the pastor with the promise of getting her apartment as she was becoming homeless when she couldn’t cope with paying her rent.
In his defense, Pastor Ogundipe denied ever meeting the actress neither had he anything to do with her.
“I have never met her in my life, I do not know who she is. I was shocked when my attention was called to her series of allegations against me because they were all fabricated to tarnish my image.
“I have no idea where the lies emanated from until she confessed that she was being sponsored by a UK based lady, Bukky Jesse to defame my personality,” Ogundipe narrated, adding that though, as a man of God, he has forgiven her, the law has to take its course in order to forestall similar occurrence in the future.
Funmi had alleged that Pastor Genesis defrauded her of a sum of two million naira on the pretense of getting her a piece of land.
The issue was reported to police and the actress was arrested.
