The three policemen involved in the killing of Qoyum Abdulyekeen ,who was until his passing last month, a student at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, have been fired.
This decision was taken after a disciplinary hearing was held during which the three cops were declared to have engaged in blameworthy conduct.
Recall that Qoyum, a National Diploma (ND) 2 student at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, was shot in the Agric axis of Ilorin last month..
Recall also that the Force Headquarters had disclosed the decision to take over investigation into the incident in order to ensure a detailed and comprehensive investigation while releasing the names of three cops who were allegedly involved in the killing of Qoyum.
The three policemen have also landed in court and they are now facing charges.
‘The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the public that the three dismissed officers, Mr Abiodun Kayode, Mr James Emmanuel, and Mr Oni Philip, were charged with murder on October 16, 2024.
They are facing charges bordering on criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the death of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola. They have been remanded in correctional centre pending further court proceedings’ the state police command disclosed penultimate week.
