Tunde Eso, was 2018 Osun State governorship aspirant under Peoples Democratic Party, he is founder of Youthocracy, a new system of government; president of Fix Nigeria Group, author of Vision for Africa and African Security Solution. He is a media, mining and project management consultant. He speaks on the chances of Nigerian youths in 2019 elections.

What is your take on 2019 presidential election in Nigeria?

I must confess that our effort at waking up sleeping giants among Nigeria youth for the past two decades is not a waste. For me, I want to advice Atiku Abubarkar, Jerry Gana, Sule Lamido, Jonah Jang, Olusegun Obasanjo, President Muhammad Buhari and other genrocrats to quit the political space in Nigeria if they really want the youth to take over from them. They should quit partisan politics and install a young dynamic personality in 2019 election.

For instance, most of the aforementioned leaders own one business or the other and during recruitment exercises for higher managerial positions, they usually specify that applicants between 28 and 35 with profound track record and 5 years experience should apply. How come they can handover their businesses into the hands of the youth believing that they are energetic and intelligent but have refused to allow the same youth to manage the affairs of our country? For me, a youthocrat is better except we can lay our hands on an elder who is credible.

Who is your preferred candidate?

Any credible youthocrat is my preferred candidate, otherwise a profound gerontocrat who will ensure youth inclusiveness for a better Nigeria is an option.

What should be done for a youth to emerge the next president?

The youth in Nigeria and Africa in general must have a united front for us to emerge in the 2019 elections. I have been advocating for youth to take over governance for the past two decades which propelled me to coin a new system of government called youtocracy defined as government of the people by the youth and for the people in 2013 in my book titled Vision for Africa. Presently, we have Mathias Tsado, Omoyele Sowere, Fela Durotoye, Ahmed Buhari, Eunice Atuejide, Adamu Garba, Tope Fasau, Olu James Omosule, Eniola Ojajuni, Enyinnaya Nwosu, Femi Babalola among those contesting for 2019 presidency. If we can come together and present one of these personalities, it will be easier to win the election. That was why I said I prefer a youth, but if we do not succeed, I’m sure we must have made a statement. Our cause is not because we want to take over power by all means, but because we have not been comfortable with the fact that our county still lacks stable electricity, no gainful employment, no industry and the environment is not even conducive for businesses to succeed. Those managing the affairs our country presently have not been fair to us and we can not continue to fold our arms.
