102 People Graduate With Distinction as Kwara Poly Produces 8,350 Graduands

A total of 8,350 people graduated from the Kwara state Polytechnic, Ilorin on Thursday, November, 9, 2023.

5,350 among the graduands received Higher National Diploma (HND) , the remaining 3,000 graduands earned Ordinary National Diploma (OND) while 102 among them graduated with distinction.

The 29th convocation ceremony was a two-day affair and the Rector of the polytechnic , Engineer Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, was a good host.

The 29th convocation ceremony Planning Committee was headed by Dr Mrs. H.N Adam while Mr. Usman YN served as Secretary.

Jimoh Barakat Omowunmi , HND Mechanical Engineering was the Overall Best National Diploma student , HND category, while Maruf Ibrahim won that of the ND category.

The Rector had also on Wednesday disclosed that a 33KV transformer has been procured by the polytechnic which will step up voltage from power plants, boost electricity supply and improve learning environment.

‘The project which was undertaken by the management will ensure regular power supply to the polytechnic, Apata-Yakuba, Oyun, Oke-Oyi and Oke-Ose communities in Moro and Ilorin East local governments, other state and federal government agencies that will also benefit from the institution’s largesse are the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital( UITH ), Kwara state Television Authority, Radio Kwara, the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation(NNPCL), Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), and the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON)’ he said.

The Renovated old IOT lecture Hall, Laboratories/workshop and office projects were also inaugurated..

Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, who is the pioneer Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo state, Nigeria, also on Wednesday delivered the institution’s 29th Convocation Lecture.

This was held at the Rear Admiral Alabi Lawal Auditorium, and he spoke on ‘The Relationship Between Science, Engineering, Technology and Civilization’

Dignitaries at the convocation ceremony on Thursday include Chief of Staff, Government House, Ilorin, Prince Mahe AbdulKadri, who represented Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq , Commissioner For Tertiary Education Dr. Mrs. Mary Ronke and Arinde , Proprietor of Al-Hikmah University, Alhaji Raheem Oladimeji.

In the meanwhile, the Rector has also expressed the need to construct a perimeter fence at the institution to check ‘intruders’ and enhance security submitting that the polytechnic is currently valued at 26 billion naira and nothing should be spared when it comes to protecting such an asset-
