It is often said that in politics, there’s is no permanent friend or permanent interest. What is constant is personal interest.

This may not be unconnected with the reason why some major stakeholders in Ogun politics have started alignment and realignment as the 2019 general elections draw near.

It is no longer news that former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has ended his rift with the member representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the Senate, Senator Buruji Kashamu and the member representing Remo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu.

To some, it is long expected but to others, it has remained a shocking news.

The trio are known members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun. Despite some contracted differences that have bedeviled the country, they remained constant factors in the party.

Knowing fully well that one of the major contenders in the race to Oke-Mosan from the Ogun West Senatorial District, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI), had declared his intention, the trio believe that whoever Governor Ibikunle Amosun picks would have to share his votes with GNI.

This is because Amosun has not minced his words in ensuring that his successor would emerge from Ogun West, a zone that has never produced a Governor since the creation of the state in 1976.

To this end, they decided to bury their differences and work together for the Ijebu agenda.

Obviously, that is necessitated as their decision to work together and form a common ground towards ensuring that the next governor of the state would emerge from Ogun East Senatorial District.
