“We Are Ready For 2019” …Lagos Central Senatorial District, Lauds Ambode

The All Progressives Congress : Lagos Central Senatorial District Leadership Forum  met on Wednesday, 13th of December, 2017 at Itire/Ikate LCDA Secretariat, Airways Road, Ijeshatedo, Surulere for its monthly meeting. The Extended Leadership Meeting which was chaired by Prince Tajudeen Olusi was well attended by leaders across the senatorial district. Topmost on the agenda was the need to restructure and  reposition the Forum in preparation for the 2019 general elections among other pertinent issues.
Also present at the meeting were the former deputy governor of Lagos State, Otunba Olufemi Pedro, the former Secretary to the state government, Hon. G.O. Aro-Lambo, the former Commissoner for Home Affairs and Culture in the state. Alhaji Tunde Balogun, a one time Chairman of the old Lagos Mainland Local Government  Council Area, Otunba Tayo Oyemade and one of the foremost leaders from Surulere Local Government Area, Chief A. O. Adenekan.
Other attendees include past and present National and State Party Executives from the district, past and present National Assembly members, past and present Lagos State House of Assembly members, past and present Local Government Council Chairmen and their vice, past and present LGA Chairmen and past and present Federal and State  government functionaries from the district. The Forum, in its effort to ensure the smooth running of its affairs in preparations for the Party National Convention, State, Local Government Area and Ward Congresses and most importantly, the year 2019 general elections, resolved to adopt a committee system for the task ahead.
The former deputy governor of Lagos State, Otunba Femi Pedro and the former Deputy Speaker of the LSHA and one time State Woman Leader, Hon. Adetoun Adediran and other selected leaders were saddled  with the responsibility of dictating  the terms of reference for the Committees. Some of the Committees proposed during the meeting were: Reconciliation, Mobilization, Campaign, Election Monitoring, Finance, Governmental Affairs, LGA/LCDA Monitoring,  Welfare, Research, Training and Development, Youth and Wonen Development, Publicity,  and Security.
Speakers after speakers emphasized the need for members to brace up ahead of the onerous task.                      The Senatorial Leader cum Chairman of the Forum, Prince Tajudeen Olusi in his contribution implored leaders to attend their ward meetings regularly with a view to assisting in coordinating the party’s affairs at the grass-roots level. He charged leaders to inform the new members to take part in the on going All Progressives Congress membership registration exercise. He also advised leaders to encourage every person of voting age to obtain his or her voter’s card in the Continuous Voters Registration Exercise being organized by INEC throughout the state.
The Forum also lauded the State Government on its Y2018 budget proposal of N1.046trn to the State House of Assembly recently. Prince Tajudeen Olusi was particularly pleased to learn that the state government  earmarked 67%  for capital expenditures, 33% for Recurrent, and targeted N720bn Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). He also used the opportunity to commend governor Akinwunmi Ambode for all the giant strides he has made in the last two and half years in office. The elated Senatorial Leader also expressed his utmost satisfaction on the report that there has been a 28.67% increase over Y2017 budget.
In his remarks, the Director of Organization of the Forum, Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King applauded the State Y2018 Capital/Recurrent Ratio stating that the governor is poised on making Lagos the state of NOW with cutting edge infrastructural support and technological advancement that will raise her socio-economic profile soonest. He also thanked the Speaker and Members of the State House of Assembly for their support and cooperation with the governor thus far.  Similarly , the immediate past Chairman of Iru/VI and presently the Chairman of the Governing Council, Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazauire, Jigawa State, Chief Abayomi Daramola commended the Governor for presenting such a meaningful and highly realistic  budget for Y2018. Chief Daramola submitted that there is no doubt that the “Budget  of Progress and Development  is aimed  at continous infrastructural renewal for the benefit of all and sundry.
Several members were of the opinion that the completion and commissioning of Abule-Egba and Ajah over head bridges, as well as the on-going Agege Pen Cinema flyover  among other and on-going infrastructural development projects further confirmed that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is a trailblazer for many novel ideas and innovations that are now standard fare and model throughout the nation.
The highly excited and enthusiastic  members unanimously agreed to continue to give the state government the necessary support needed to enhance its people-oriented programmes, promote its environmental friendly policies, and to develop an economy that is knowledge-based,   technologically driven and sustainable.
