In what I’m going to regard as a win for Nigerian queer cinema, the nominations list for the Best of Nollywood awards was released recently and Tope Oshin’s 2018 queer movie ‘We Don’t Live Here Anymore’ bagged 11 nominations. ‘Outstanding’, ‘I have To Say’. ‘Best Director’, ‘Movie of the Year’, and ‘Best Promising Actor’ (Francis Sule) are just a few of the categories the movie received nods in.

Uduak-Obong Patrick’s Obsession followed closely with six nominations.

“This year, we received 112 films including 93 feature films, eight short films and one documentary series were screened. Ten others were disqualified for various reasons relating to not meeting entry requirements.” Head of BON awards screeners committee, Niyi Adedokun said in a statement.

The BON Awards is an annual film ceremony presented by the Best of Nollywood magazine honouring outstanding achievements in the Nigerian movie industry. The 10th edition was held on December 9.
