Senator-elect, Osun East , Chief Adenigba Francis Fadahunsi has again voiced his opinion on national issues as he asked the Federal Government to be proactive  and ensure security of lives and property of all Nigerians. The Senator-elect also warned the Federal Government that a violence- induced restructuring with a slide to regional governments is emerging.

In a statement by his media aide, Sam Segun-Progress, which was made available to Global Excellence on Thursday,  Fadahunsi said the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Commission, the North East Development  Commission, the proposed  South East Commission, the current situation  in the North West and the North Central may also trigger fresh agitations. Such situation, will, according to him,  gradually force the nation into regional system of government.

The establishment of the regional commissions occasioned by relentless violence is according to him, becoming fashionable and encouraging other zones to possibly promote violence in order to get government attention. The agitations that degenerated into violence and the decline in oil revenue, also, according to him gave birth to the Niger Delta Development Commission. The senator-elect  recalled how the Ogoni crisis  snowballed  into the arms struggles by the Niger Delta youths and what he referred to as the ‘endless Father Kukah reconciliation commission’  which eventually gave birth to the Niger/Delta Development Commission and the payment of the 13% derivation to the oil producing states . Fadahunsi  also said some Northern  Elites may have noticed the benefits their counterparts in the  Niger Delta  enjoy,  hence , the inspiration to promote  similar agitations  in their region, this,  he opined , is possibly responsible for  the emergence of Boko Haram which has allegedly become a big business to some politicians and military top shots from the region. ‘Boko Haram crisis gave birth to the North East Development Commission, the IPOB and MOSSOB gave birth to the proposed South East Development Commission, which has passed second reading in the Senate.

The crisis in Kaduna and Zamfara is about to give birth to another commission. The crisis in the North West is taking a new dimension that is likely to spread across the region if the federal government remains indifferent and adamant to calls by well -meaning Nigerians’, he said. Fadahunsi also added that the Federal Government must as a matter of urgency set up a team that will nip crisis in the bud,  the lackadaisical attitude of government to security matters will, also, according to him, continue to create food for the boys. ‘ Must we use violence to get what is due? Must we lose lives and other valuables before we can get what is due? What is the gain of the government? What is the benefit of using our scarce resources to rebuild ruins? He asked.

Fadahunsi cautioned that the North Central is due for a similar commission and that once they get theirs, the South West may see the development commission as reward for violence and some boys may, according to him,  rise up to seek for their own share of the proverbial ‘national cake’.  Calling on the Federal Government to quickly put machinery in place towards restructuring the country in order that agitations can be addressed , Fadahunsi said if done, carnages will also  be consequently reduced and prevented.
