Robbery Suspect Begs To Die By Firing Squad

A suspected murderer and notorious armed robber, Abiodun Adigun popularly known as “butcher man” has disclosed that he preferred to die by firing squad.

The suspect, who was paraded alongside 19 others at the Ogun State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta said that, if he is rearrested, he would prefer to be killed by firing squad.

‘Butcher’ pleaded that, the police should forgive him as he had repented from his devilish ways, but insisted that if he is arrested again, he should be killed by gun shot. 

The 27-year old father of one, who confessed to be a member of Aiye cult group also claimed to have killed no fewer than two persons since he was recruited into the cult group in 2016.

“My name is Abiodun Adigun but my people called me Salori or butcher man. I am from Agege but we were arrested by some vigilante group around 12:30am on that day, and handed us over to the police. 

“I am a plumber but chose robbery as another alternative to sustain my wife and my kid. I have only killed two people with my squad at Ikorodu during cult clash. 

“But what I want from the police is to forgive me and set me free, because I have a wife and one boy, but I promise I will never go back to these bad habits again. But if I go back, they should just kill me by firing squad.”

But parading the suspects on Thursday, the State commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu told newsmen that, Butcher was arrested at Agbado crossing area on 29th of August around 2:15am by team of Federal SARS following a tip-off.

CP Iliyasu stressed that, the Butcher and his gang have been terrorizing the environment for over six months, saying sighting the police, the robbers took to their heels, but the team succeeded in arresting Butcher. 

“On 29/08/2018, at about 2:15am, a team of FSARS led by Inspector Tijani Adegbola acting on a tip off stormed the hideout of a robbery syndicate at Agbado crossing area of Ogun State. The robbers have been terrorizing Agbado and its environs. On sighting the policemen, they took to their heels but the team succeeded in arresting one of them who has confessed his participation in series of robberies across the state”.

According to the police boss, one locally made pistol and five live cartridges were recovered from the suspect.

Iliyasu therefore commended the state government and the people of Ogun State for their support, promising that police would continue to operate within the ambit of the law to rid the state of crime and criminals.
