Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has arrived in the United States. For twelve years, Atiku
was denied the US visa, until last October when report had it that he had been reconsidered by the American authorities.
Sources said that, after the brief welcome ceremonies at the Dulles Airport, Atiku and his entourage left for Washington for a meeting with a high powered, bi-partisan delegation of US congressmen who are said to be concerned about the future of democracy in Nigeria.
The delegation, it was gathered, will be discussing with Atiku how best the United States can support Nigeria in ensuring democracy at all levels and more importantly ensuring the will of the people prioritised at all times.
The former VP, we learned, will have several other meetings with business leaders, high ranking US government officials, thought leaders and Nigerians in in the diaspora.
