Police Community Relations Committee Sets To Hold Conference In Osogbo

Security chiefs and stakeholders in the security sector will next week converge in Osogbo, the Osun State capital to proffer solutions to the menace of kidnapping and terrorism in the country. Worried by the high rate of crime in the country, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) came up with the idea of holding a three-day National Security Conference.

The organization also stated that it is backing the introduction of the state Police which it described as the only means of effectively preventing crime in the local areas. Speaking at a press conference to herald the national security conference in Osogbo, the chairman of the conference planning committee, Mr John Okedoye said the conference became imperative because of the worrying state of insecurity in the country.

The conference, Global Excellence gathered will draw participants from the 36 states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. Expected as keynote speakers at the conference are the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris, former IGP, Solomon Arase; Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and an educationist, Dr Oyebade Olowogboyega.

The theme of the conference: ‘Combating The Twin Evil Of Terrorism And Kidnapping Through People Policing’ was according to Okedoye carefully selected to ensure that the conference solves the problems confronting the nation’s security.
