The ancient city of Ila-Orangun, Osun State recorded high vehicular and human movements on Saturday, 30th of June as dignitaries from far and near stormed the town. The Orangun of Ila belongs to the class of leading Yoruba monarchs, considering his status as one of the sons of the progenitor of the Yoruba speaking people, Oduduwa. The Orangun of Ila, Oba Oyedotun Abdulwahab Kayode was the Chief Host as dignitaries came in large numbers to the city in his honour. Though, he had turned 60 on the 8th of February, the celebration was arranged to have the 60th birthday combined with that of his 15th coronation anniversary.
Top broadcaster, Olusola Abayomi Ajala and Jide Kareem also considered the idea of coming up with a Biography in honour of the Orangun. The book entitled ‘The Living Spring’ was launched at the monarch’s palace. Top faces at the event include, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan, Chief Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Ademola Adeleke and former Inspector-General of Police, Tafa Balogun. Speaking with Global Excellence, Olusola Ajala expressed delight that the idea of writing the book in honour of the top Osun Oba eventually came into fruition.
‘I am happy that the project has eventually seen the light of the day. Kabiesi is a respected monarch who is loyal to all his friends, he is ever ready to be there for his people, we considered it important that we should come up with his Biography and the tributes and comments we got while putting the book together got us more encouraged. He is a good father to all’, he said.
