The certified Public Accountant who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy from the University of Maiduguri has proved his distractors wrong with his giant strides in detailed management of the funds of various ministries he’s served.
For those who don’t have a knowledge of his track record, he came to limelight when he became the Deputy Accountant General in Yobe State before transferring his service to the Federal Civil Service as Assistant Director (Accounts), in 1995. Since his career in the Federal Civil Service, he served in difference capacities in the Account Department of various Ministries, such as Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Office of Accountant General of the Federation, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Police Affairs, and Ministry of Interior heading divisions and departments of Finance and Accounts. He meritoriously rose to the Post of Deputy Director (Accounts) in 2004. And in 2008 he was promoted to the position of Director (Accounts), Grade Level 17 and was posted to Federal Ministry of Works as Director (Finance and Accounts) in May, 2010. We gathered that ever since he was deployed to the Ministry of works, power and housing, Ibrahim Musa Tumsah maintained a clean sheet and never soiled his long protected integrity which won him accolades from all and sundry.
Apart from his operational ethics, he remained one of the most respected and widely travelled officer and has attended various courses, seminars and Workshops both in Nigeria and abroad. One of his major celebrated roles at the ministry is the detailed planning, coordinating and control of the financial activities of the Ministry which include payment of approved expenditure without any undue personal touting or favour. He has also consistently rendered statutory returns to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) which include statements and revenue return. We gathered that the collection and remittance of independent Federal Government Revenue have also been thoroughly executed. Ibrahim Tumsah has further carefully responded to audit queries from the public accounts committee of the National Assembly thereby defending the spending of the ministry.
Those in the know further informed that he had also consistently processed authorised cash backing of all warrant released by Federal Ministry of Finance. Not only that he had professionally prepared the ministry’s Medium Term Sector Strategy (MTSS) at different point in time. Ibrahim Tumsah can be best described as a new generation public servant who has distinguished himself in all endeavours thereby making enemies in line of duty.
He is adjudged one of the very few who hasn’t soiled his hands despite many temptations that abound and these have shamed his many detractors that are on a journey of sponsoring campaign of calumny against his office and personalty.
