Lagos APC Set for 2019, Harmonizes Campaign Groups

As part of effort towards finding common ground among party members, the Lagos State chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) has been able to resolve disputes among various groups, such that may had seemingly divided the party after governorship primary election in the state, by harmonizing Buhari and Osinbajo Campaign Support Group (BOCSG), Ambode Mandate Support Group (AMSG), and Babajide Olusola Campaign Organization (BOSCO) into an Independent Campaign Group (ICG), which would serve as an extra hand to the party in the state during forthcoming general election.

Specifically, the collapsing of the groups was aimed at forming a formidable independent campaign team, with focus of the party been on carrying all party members along.

However, it was gathered that a drawn oganogram for newly formed campaign group has Tayo Ayinde, until last housing, serving as BOSCO, as Director General, of the Group, with a APC’s chieftain, Cardinal James Odunbaku, as his deputy.

Others on the list includes, People Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos chapter former chairman, Moshood Salvador, who was named as Assistant Director General, West Senatorial District, alongside Wahab Alawiye-King, who was also appointed as Assistant Director General, Central Senetaorial District, just as AMSG’s former DG, got Assistant Director General for East Senatorial District.

As gathered, the resolve, which was said to had been reached during a reconciliation meeting broker by leaders of All Progressive APC on Monday, was said to had been aimed at addressing factional issues ahead of governorship and others elections in the state.

It would be recalled that crisis broke off in the party after the state incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, second term move was rejected by leaders of the state chapter of the party’s while another governorship aspirant, Babajide Sanwoolu-Olu, continue to receive endorsement.

The effect of the rejection was concluded as cause of Ambode’s loss to Sanwo-Olu during primary election earlier in the month, with over 900,000 votes against the incumbent.

Meanwhile, a source from the Lagos APC’s secretariat who spoke on the development said, after the meeting, that merger of the trio was necessary and that it was reached after finding a common ground.

He added that the three groups had been harmonized to form a formidable organisation that would work for the state chapter of APC governorship candidate, Sanwoolu-Olu, President Muhammad’s Buhari and prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and other politics offices’ seekers in the state.

He said that the groups had agreed to work together as an ICG, with Ayinde to head the newly formed organization.

On the development, the source stated that the listed assistant director generals were up to task and that they were prepared to achieve the set goal of the newly formed campaign group.

He disclosed that Salvador’s mandate was to deliver for president Buhari and his vice, yemi Osinbajo and other candidates of APC including Sanwo-Olu.
