Indigenes Insist It’s Oshogbo’s Turn To Produce Osun Governor

Indigenes of Osogbo, capital of Osun State have resolved that it is time for the town to produce a successor to Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

In a communiqué issued after a special meeting held at the Osogbo City Hall, tagged “The General Assembly of Osogbo Indigenes”, the indigenes said Osogbo is ready to take its rightful position in the state and produce the next Governor of Osun State.

The meeting which was organized by a group of Osogbo-born professionals under the auspices of Osogbo Affairs Forum (OSAF) enjoyed the support of the Ataoja-in-Council and the Osogbo Progressive Union (OPU) which is the umbrella body of all Osogbo indigenous groups.

The meeting was attended by various interest groups of Osogbo extraction including the Osogbo Oroki Parapo, (OOP) Osogbo Development Action Group, (ODAG), Osogbo Professionals Initiatives (OPI), Osogbo National Students Union (ONSU).

The President of OPU, Ambassador Rasaq Siyanbola while speaking on the occasion said Osogbo parades quality, qualified, competent and very sound contenders for the 2018 Governorship election and urged all indigenes of Osogbo in various political parties to work for the interest of Osogbo.

The communiqué was signed by the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Professor Waheed Babatunde Yahya, Vice Chairman, Dr. Kamoru Oluwatoyin Kadiri and Secretary, Mr. Asimiyu Badru.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Yahya after analyzing the voting strength of Osogbo lamented that Osogbo has not been given its deserved place in the scheme of things in the state.

He urged all indigenes of Osogbo to ensure that they collect their Permanent Voters Card and get ready to use their PVC to guarantee the interest of Osogbo in the next political dispensation.
