The diminutive comedienne, Hellen Paul best known as Tattafo has finally debunked the rumour that she back-stabbed her colleagues during her performance at recent A.Y Shows, the situation we learnt, didn’t go down well with Ali Baba.
Ali Baba, we learnt felt viciously insulted by the comment purportedly made by Tatafo and aptly took on to his Instagram to drop a hint of his grievances. Although, Ali Baba didn’t specifically mention any name, some of his fans and followers on instagram believed that the comment was directed to Hellen Paul.
After several comments from fans who tongue-lashed her for disrespecting Ali Baba, Tatafo swiftly took on to her mobile keyboard to debunk the allegation. She said she never back-stabbed any of her colleagues let alone Ali Baba who’s being honoured as titan of Nigerian Comedy industry. According to her, “I have watched with mixed feelings, ranging from bewilderment at first, to amazement, and now utter amusement, as some mischief makers have tried to create a non-existent frosty relationship between me and my father and mentor in the industry, Ali Baba. It all started with my jabs at a show – something we all as comedians throw at each other every now and then. All done for laughs – nothing personal.
Ali Baba is someone I respect a lot and it will be foolhardy for anyone to think that I was ‘insulting’ him at that event. I am like a daughter to him and I am sure if he has any issue with me, he would, as an elder and a father, talk to me personally about it. The account and scenario described in his post allegedly referring to me did not even happen to or involve me. It amuses me how people easily read between imaginary lines so that they, like Don King, can promote battles, lol.”
Confirming this in a telephone chat with our reporter, Hellen Paul said, the issue is nothing to write home about, “there is no basis on that issue. It is a usual way we all comedians use to jab ourselves and it is all for laugh, nothing personal or any string attached. Ali Baba is my father now, how can people just frame issue out of non-issue?. Nothing serious my brother,” she affirmed.
