Honourable Lasun Yusuf is a 2nd term member of the House of Representatives and he is one of the old faces in the state political circle. Lasun emerged the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives on 9th June, 2015. Though, his elevation to the deputy speakership position has enhanced his status, he is still getting a sort of cold treatment from the political home front.
Till date, none of the levels of the party structures in the state has congratulated him or showed willingness to identify with Lasun. It has been the same story from ward to state levels, nothing daunted the top lawmaker and he’s focused on his legislative duties and refused to be distracted.
Meanwhile, we exclusively gathered that Lasun’s choice for the deputy speakership position was courtesy of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
Lasun defected to the PDP from the AD in 2002 and was one of those that worked for the exit of Chief Bisi Akande from the Government House in 2003. Lasun then had contact with Atiku who coordinated the ‘capturing’ of the South-West in the 2003 election.
Lasun later served as coordinator for the Turaki Vanguard, preparatory to the 2007 election and the bond remained unbroken.
