How did music start with you?

I started music officially in 2010 with my immediate brother, Dj Elshawn, who is currently schooling in the United States of America , we formed a group called El Phlex in 2009 and we released our first official hit single titled *Amen* in 2010. We also got several hit singles that rocked the airwaves during the year 2010 and 2015 .

What are those memories you had while building your career?

Working with my brother (Dj Elshawn ) in the group is part of them. It’s such a fantastic and tremendous memory that I can never forget.

Highlight some of your vintage tracks that brought you to the limelight?

Our first official single titled *Amen” was released in 2010. The video of the song was shot and directed by Dj Tee *Gbetiwa *. It was a hit banger too, the song also made a huge statement for us.  *I’m in the mood *, *Low waist *, *Aiye mi featuring Oritse Femi is another good song by El Phlex and the song got us nominated for the Most Promising Act on Nigeria Entertainment Awards 2014.

No doubt, you command a lot of respect in the industry now, how did you build that?

I’ve been in the industry for a couple of years now and most of the people I know since I started my career , I keep a very close relationship with everyone regardless of who I am. I never for once disregarded or underrated anyone. I believe that humility also plays a major role in that, I respect everybody’s hustle, like they say, respect is reciprocal.

What is your relationship with Sheyman and the Phatbase crew?

I personally call him King Of Melo, the man wey sabi lol  I’m sure you know what that means? Phatbase is my second home. Sheyman and I come from the same home town , Ogun State, Abeokuta precisely. Sheyman is a very good friend that turned brother, he’s someone I look up to in every way. The chemistry has been there since the beginning of my career, I started my music journey right in his presence, my brother and I did our first demo in 2009 at Sheyman’s studio in Abeokuta.

You and your twin brother filled a vacuum that was missed by all in the 90s, how did you still bound together?

We are brothers, we are from the same parents, so nothing can come in between us, we are one happy family. He decided to further his education overseas which is never a bad decision. We are both happy he made such decision while I stuck to our plans of becoming the mega super star to make our family and the group we both created proud at the end of the day. Despite the fact that we are not working together at the moment, we are at peace with each other. He knows all about my moves, he’s a professional Disc joker, he advises me on what to do and the kind of song I put out there.

You are more frequent in the United States, apart from music; what other businesses are you into?

My family is in America, I travel there most time to visit them. I’m into real estate business.

Artistes these days depend on stylists to lift their outlook and event appearance, do you belong to the same school of thought?

There is nothing bad in getting a stylist to work on your appearance, looking good is part of the business. Artistes get so many things on their daily routines and they might not have the time to put the right cloths or fashion together for event, so with the help of a good stylist they can.

I’m not against that school of thought. Personally, apart from  music, my second career is fashion designing. I have passion for fashion, I’ve got good fashion sense and some of my colleagues in the industry call me Fashion god because they know that I know how to put stuff together. I like to dress well because I want to look good. Being able to look good is the same thing as being able to make heaven because God is good.

Regardless of what you are going through, if you can still come out looking good, then you are a winner. Go out there and win more, nothing is perfect anyway, those two statements are my FashionWatchWords .lol

Banky. W and Adesua got engaged and broke the internet, what’s your take?

Honestly, I’m so happy for them, we need to see more of that in our industry because lately we are only seeing several celebrities’ crashed marriages and that doesn’t encourage the younger ones to get married. The way Banky W approached his wife has become the new trend now. People feel that by DMing whoever you admire on social media, it could give them chances of getting to know or meet someone through that way too, that’s quite encouraging I must say. So my prayer for Mr W and his wife is nothing but joy and long lasting relationship.

How does it take to be successful in the musical industry and describe your opinion of music success?

Artistes need to work very hard to attain certain level of success in the music industry. You also need to be original, stay committed and perfect your craft, stay humble and never relent. Above all, put God first in everything you do.

How do you manage many advances from female fans?

I love my female fans and they love me too, I always try not to mix business with pleasure and that’s the best way to deal with such situation.

What’s new from your duo?

Like I said earlier, the duo El Phlex doesn’t have anything musically in the pipeline for now. My brother is currently in the United States of America doing his Master’s Degree and focusing on something else. For Phlex, I just reintroduced myself as a solo act in 2016. Phlex is a pop artiste; he went solo in 2016 with the release of “Roger”, featuring Reminisce and Yung6ix. Phlex puts out his sophomore single “Physical” as produced by Krizbeatz and visual directed by Patrick Elis in Atlanta, USA. He is currently signed to Pillars Records.

Where is your favourite Lagos hang out?

I don’t really have a favourite hang- out because I have several places on my list that I love going to. Sorry, I can’t mention. But I like well- reserved environments to chill out .

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

Where do you see Phlex in few years?
