Kwara State governor, Alhaji Abdul Fatah Ahmed has a dream which he has religiously pursued since he assumed office which is to turn the state to an Eldorado and make it investors’ destination. Though the unplanned financial challenges presented itself as a big obstacle, the chap who paid his dues in the private sector before venturing into politics brought his ingenuity into bear and came up with the idea of the recently launched Kwara State Infrastructure Development Fund (IFK). He is finally here with a project, the Split Diamond Underpass that is unprecedented in the state; indeed, such could only be found in not more than two states in the country. Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed recently flagged off the construction of a N3.7bn Geri-Alimi Split Diamond Underpass. The project which would be funded through the recently launched Kwara State Infrastructure Development Fund (IFK) has an 18- month completion timeline.
The underpass when completed will not only ease flow of traffic but would also add aesthetic value to the Geri-Alimi axis of the metropolis.
Arrangement, we learnt has been made for alternative access roads to ease the momentary inconvenience that the project may cause to road users during the construction of the road while property owners that may be affected by the project would also be compensated in line with relevant laws.
Other projects that would be embarked on under the IFK funding arrangement include the dualisation of Zango-University of Ilorin road, new campuses of the state university in Ilesha-Baruba and Osi. The project is divided into three sections; the first section, would be the Split Diamond Interchange; widening of the road to the junction of Saw Mill Garage under section II; and the widening of the road from Saw Mill Garage to General Hospital.

Kayode Oduoye Adds A Year

Politician, businessman and legal practitioner, Hon. Kayode Oduoye was full of smiles on 6th October.
It was his birthday and he had good reasons to appreciate the Mercies of God, a prayer session attended by loyalists and friends was held at his Osogbo residence.
His wife, Mrs. Mosunmola Filani-Oduoye was also on ground as chief host.  The amiable dude is one of the leading governorship aspirants in the Osun State PDP and his political profile and acceptance has been  soaring on  daily basis.
Connecting Fatahi Diekola With Lasun Yusuf
Fatahi Diekola is a prominent politician in Osogbo and he is believed to be one of the strong supporters of Hon. Lasun Yusuf.  The gist here is that the Fatahi Diekola’s camp grows in strength by the day and it has continued to win more converts. Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives. Lasun Yusuf is believed to be nursing gubernatorial ambition and the development has brought to the fore the schism that has for long existed in Osun State APC which is the battle for relevance between the home grown politicians and the one recruited from the Diaspora by the governor. Interestingly and naturally, the returnees usually have upper hand because they enjoy the listening ears of the governor.  Diekola is one of those canvassing that a home grown politician should be Aregbesola’s successor and he already has in his camp a former commissioner who has a good sense of humour and other Aregbesola boys.
‘Diekola is not a politician you can dismiss as irrelevant because apart from being a grassroots politician, he has record of having diminishing returns recorded on the side of the party or camp where he feels cheated and decides to dump. He warned Oyinlola not to pick Tajudeen Oladipo as Commissioner in 2003 and when they insisted he withdrew to his cocoon and later dumped the party, it was the beginning of PDP’s loss of popularity in Osogbo and the party is yet to regain it ever since.  He doesn’t like the way Lasun is being vilified for securing a seat that has become a source of pride and relevance to the people of Osun State’ said a source.
