President Muhammadu Buhari has been called to investigate the alleged fraud involve the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mr.Mounir Haliru Gwarzo

In a press  statement  issued yesterday, the President , Centre for Ethics and Standard{CE&S}  Mr.James Okafor, directed the investigation of the corruption allegations against  Gwarzo as reported by media last month. The Centre expressed concern over the allegation of 104million and several other financial improprieties levelled against Gwarzo.

Such crisis would definitely have multiplier effect in market. Why must he approve such benefit? If the allegation is substantiated that the DG received the amount and awarded contacts to companies he still serve as directors, he must be sacked and face prosecution. We are talking about restoring investors  confidence in economy  about to be fully   out of  recession ,such issues of poor  corporate governance and lack of accountability should not be tolerated .To retain the confidence of local and foreign investors  in the market ,Gwarzo must be sacked and an  independent investigator move in to investigate  this issue  must be tackled to retain confidence in the Commission and the market

The case has similarity with the sacked SGF,

Babachir who allegedly used his company for grass cutting contacts, similarly,Gwarzo must go .Mr.President must act with firmness in dealing with these allegations. Meanwhile the Centre plan to hold a half day protest next month if Gwarzo is not removed from office
