A group under the name, Nigeria Integrity Coalition Forum, has frowned at a recent publication by the spokesperson to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr.  Reuben Abati, for having the effrontery “to insult and assassinate the character of the corruption free Dino Melaye”.

Senator Dino Melaye was lately engaged over an alleged certificate scandal which topped public discourse.

In the said publication by Abati, he had alluded to Melaye’s educational matter saying “I have never seen a serious person advertising a Third Class degree’.

But in a press statement on Wednesday,  5th of April,  2017, the group,  apparently backing the Kogi West senator,  took a swipe at the former Guardian newspaper editorial chairman over his statement.

The group through its leader,  Barr.  Tokunbo Davids, said (Abati was) “a man who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly receiving 50 million naira from the former national security adviser , Sambo Dasuki”, adding that he “was the PRO of the barawo boys club of the PDP.”

“Reuben Abati who is only enjoying bail from corruption charges with the EFCC has the effrontery to insult and assassinate the character of the corruption free Dino Melaye. We want to advise the embattled Dasukigate journalist to desist from his unguided utterances as it will only further expose his criminal activities while in office as the spokesperson to the former president and his deals during the last presidential election”.
“We equally want to state that Senator Dino has been a leading voice in the fight against corruption and we do not expect that people like Reuben Abati that have their hands stained with corrupt practice to love him but we do expect that he should face his corruption charges with the EFCC and stop playing into the gallery in an attempt to display his media craftiness in the name of looking for recognition in an administration that has zero tolerance to corruption,” reads the statement.
