Indications have emerged that a deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Adebayo Adelabu, may resign from office anytime soon.

Bayo, a direct grandson of Adegoke Adelabu (popularly known as Penkelemesi), the most flamboyant and articulate grassroots politician of the pre-independence political era, sources said, is leaving office to contest to go fully into politics.

The CBN topshot, we gathered, is one of the contenders to the office of the governor of Oyo State. And he is enjoying the blessing of the incumbent Governor Ajimobi.

Already, Bayo as he is fondly referred has completed the construction of his 25-room country home in Alalubosa area of Oyo State, signaling his quick homecoming.

Adebayo Adekola Adelabu was born on September 28, 1970 to Mr & Mrs Aderibigbe Adelabu of Adegoke Adelabu’s compound, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Until his appointment as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was an Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of First Bank of Nigeria Plc. (FBN). Prior to that, he held the positions of General Manager as the West African Regional Head of Finance and Strategy (Consumer Banking Business) for Standard Chartered Bank from where he was head-hunted in 2009. Bayo holds a First Class degree in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and he is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a member of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria.
