Ahead of the guber election held in September in Osun State, two individuals; Senator Ademola Adeleke and Dr Akin Ogunbiyi were the PDP leading guber aspirants. At the guber primary held at the GMT Hotel, Osogbo, which was supervised by Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Senator Ademola Adeleke was declared winner while Ogunbiyi kicked against the outcome of the primary election.
The two top PDP figures engaged in a war of words for about a month before they agreed to truce after a peace meeting organised by the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki. The peace secured in the relationship did not last long as they returned to exchange of gauntlets shortly after the election. Ogunbiyi who had been promised the senate ticket eventually lost out in the race as Adeleke’s loyalist, Akogun Lere Oyewunmi emerged the party’s candidate.
Though, there is no love lost between the two chaps, the gist here is that they are both back in same political boat as they have been named members of the Presidential Campaign Council from Osun State and would by extension coordinate things in the state.
