The expectation of civil servants and other workers in Ogun State was very high when a sum of N5.60B Paris Club refund was disbursed to the state recently because it was expected that the fund would be used to pay outstanding salaries and wages of workers. But many were disappointed when it was learnt that only N4.4B was used to pay outstanding salaries and others, while leave bonus, other allowances and emoluments were not paid. An inside source told our reporter that the governor also settled the House of Assembly with N260m for constituency projects which was believed to be a ploy to shut them up but as at now, only N130m has been released, with a promise to release the remaining fund. It was also learnt that Mr Governor wants to use the balance to buy cars and pay allowances to his Special Advisers and Special Assistants who have not been paid since their appointments.

The Commissioner for Information who would have reacted on this issue is said to be in the United States receiving medical attention.
