Pretence and procrastinations belong to the past. Anyone with political ambition and intention to emerge as Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s successor must compulsorily make such known or allow it buried in his mind until the next four years. As the July 7th, Osun State APC guber primary draws near, a former state lawmaker who is also a second term member of the Senate, Senator Babajide Omoworare has taken steps that automatically had the numbers of the party’s governorship aspirants increased to 28.
The dude, a few days ago, formally declared his intention to give the state governorship seat a shot. Omoworare, who stormed the party’s state secretariat in Osogbo with supporters asserted that he is qualified to rule the state, considering his political experience. Promising to perform creditably if eventually elected as the state governor, security, health and education will, according to him, enjoy special attention under his administration. The Senator who said he would work towards getting the internally generated revenue increased without inflicting hardships on the people of the state also promised to make judicious use of the available resources in the state with less dependence on the federal allocations.
The state APC Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun in his remarks stated the resolve of the party to ensure a level playing field for all the aspirants at the primary. The Ile-Ife born Senator is a long-time associate of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Governor Rauf Aregbesola. Cognizant of the recent indirect declaration made by the governor at the last edition of the ‘Ogbeni Till Daybreak’ programme that he will be contesting for the Osun East senatorial seat in 2019 , it had then become clear that the Senator may not be returning to the senate in 2019. The Senator had earlier announced plan to visit the state secretariat via the social media platforms ‘With God and the mandate of the people, we shall flag off our campaign officially today at the State of Osun APC Secretariat, Osogbo by 1 pm, kindly stay tuned to TVC, OSBC TV and Radio. You are all cordially invited’, he stated
