After many denials, it has now been confirmed that the senator representing Lagos West senatorial district, Mr. Olamilekan Solomon Yayi, has abandoned his ambition to rule Ogun State.
A call made to his media aide, Mr Kayode Odunaro, to confirm the story, was not answered.
Aides of the senator had constantly debunked the story in the past when it was obvious the dream was becoming hazy due to Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s reported interest in who succeeds him in office in 2019.
Amosun since the beginning of the race has rejected the choice of Yayi allegedly because of his (Amosun’s) reported rift with the APC leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who was said to be backing Yayi for Ogun governorship.
Now, “the story is true”, a very reliable source hinted Global Excellence magazine, adding that “a decision has been taken for him (Yayi) to run again (for senate) in Lagos West.”
The source stated that Yayi has met with local government chairmen in his zone and informed them accordingly on the development.
