No fewer than 1,000 members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Yewa North local government area of Ogun State have defected from the party and pledged their allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defectors were led by Pastor Adetunde Joseph from Oungbe Ward, Ita-Oba, Iselu in Yewa North local government area of Ogun State. They were received into the PDP when party leaders, including the state chairman, Engr. Adebayo Dayo; the deputy governorship candidate, Dr. Reuben Abati and the director-general of the organisation, Aare Remi Bakare led others on campaigns in some communities in the area.
Pastor Joseph said he and others decided to leave the ADC because they did not want to belong to a party that does not have a presidential candidate, adding that they also did not want to be left out of PDP’s victory train, which, he said, the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Senator Buruji Kashamu represented.
Addressing the people, Dayo urged them to support the PDP to restore the state’s lost glory, assuring them that Senator Kashamu was set to “take Ogun State to greater heights,” if elected.
